NextGenUs UK CIC is a Community Interest Company that provides both USC and NGA broadband services to communities in mainly rural areas of the UK where the existing choices for broadband services are limited or non-existent, the so-called Final Third.
As a Social Enterprise, NextGenUs UK CIC offers economy of scale benefits and a ready-made progression path to delivering each local community with a future-proof broadband service in a way that safeguards the local community from for-profit monopoly abuse and returns a minimum of 65% of surplus to the local community, in accordance with the externally regulated CIC rules.
NextGenUs UK CIC in partnership with AFL Telecommunications, a Fujikura business, delivered the first Community Interest FttH village in the UK, Ashby de la Launde, Lincolnshire in November 2010, where residents and businesses now enjoy speeds of up to 1000Mbps/1Gbps.
NextGenUs UK CIC is providing and supporting a complete next generation network upgrade for Great Asby Broadband CIC in Cumbria and has undertaken a detailed engineering design and costing to enable full FttH village-wide also.
