The initial procurement process for super-fast broadband for Cumbria has started. Good to be the first of the four areas to get to this stage. The focus continues to be on getting the best for all of Cumbria, on innovation, community involvement and ’levelling-up’ for all.

How do communities apply for BDUK funding for innovative pilots? Is this funding separate from the two main projects?

” provision of a wholesale broadband network (Accessible Cumbria) (£44.0m) ”

let’s hope there are obligations about having credible retail partners on board.

Partner will be required to offer wholesale services and access to other operators in an open, transparent and non-discriminatory manner to comply with state aid exemption requirements.

it needs to go beyond ”offering wholesale services and access” or you risk a very under-utilised network (SYDR, H2O etc) - the buyer should insist on credible retail partners being signed up by the wholesaler at the tender stage. BT would have that automatically.
